Sasikala Bribegate: Whistleblower DIG Prisons Roopa transferred
Coming out as a major development in the Sasiakla bribe gate scandal, the whistleblower, Deputy inspector general (DIG) of prisons D Roopa has now been transferred from her post. Roopa had exposed the special treatment which was being enjoyed by the former All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary, VK Sasikala.
The accused who is currently in the Bengaluru jail, had been accused of enjoying the VVIP treatment which had put direct questions to the ruling State government.
While the case was being investigated, Roopa had alleged that Chief Minister of the state, Siddaramaiah, is singling her out even before the investigation is over. Also, the DIG of prisons, Roopa had said that the only reason she is being targeted, is because she raised an alarm against the AIADMK general secretary.
Earlier, while commenting on the case, Roopa had said, “It will be injustice if the CM is singling me out even before the investigation is over.
The DGP spoke to police even before me. The junior officers are talking about the issue including the jail superintendent Krishnakumar. Isn’t this the violation of service rules?”
“I didn’t speak to media originally, the DG gave the details. So service rules should apply to all and not to one,” she added.
In her report, Roopa had accused the former General Secretary, Sasikala of bribing Karnataka Director General of Prisons (DGP) Satyanarayana Rao and city central jail officials for favours.
