Sri Lanka: Mahinda Rajapaksa local poll victory shakes Colombo
The Sri Lankan government finds itself in the middle of a crisis after Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa backed party the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) swept the local polls in the country. After the victory, the Former President has asked the current unity government to be dissolved. In the wake of this crisis, Sri Lanka Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has met with the President Maithripala Sirisena and has obtained his consent to replace the current unity government with a UNP Government.
