Uber Wins Against NY PriceFixing Lawsuit
Uber Wins Against NY PriceFixing Lawsuit on Friday A federal judge granted a request by Uber Technologies Inc and its chief executive Travis Kalanick to put a price-fixing lawsuit against them on hold. The decision was issued by U.S. District Judge Jed Rakoff in Manhattan. The ride-hailing company, based in San Francisco, said riders agreed to arbitration clauses as a condition of employment. If Uber prevails, that means each driver likely would have to independently arbitrate their claims in a bid to be treated as an employee instead of a contractor.
