Huge crab sheds its shell in fascinating video
This timeplapse shows the moment the Japanese spider crab sheds its entire shell.

The species of crab is the largest in the world – with a leg span of up to 5.5 meters claw to claw.

The footage was taken by marine scientists and released by SeaWorld in San Diego.

The shedding process is called moulting and takes an average of 15 minutes – only occuring once every few months to every few years. Report by Anna O’donohue.
